President TANIZAWA Attended the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of Kasetsart University
On Thursday, February 2, 2023, the 80th founding anniversary ceremony of Kasetsart University was held at Kasetsart University in Thailand, which is the international exchange partner university of Yamaguchi University (YU).From YU, President TANIZAWA, Senior Presidential Advisor YAMADA, and others attended the ceremony.
Since the signing of the university-wide agreement in 1998, Kasetsart University and YU have been actively exchanging through the project to form a research center focusing on the field of fermentative microorganisms at the Research Center for Thermotolerant Microbial Resources, etc. In addition, we established the Joint Master’s Degree Program in Agricultural and Life Sciences as a graduate school educational program in 2020, and we have active exchanges in both research and education.
During this anniversary ceremony, a forum on “Higher Education and Leadership for Global Goals: Sustainable Development and Beyond” was held, and President TANIZAWA gave a keynote speech on” Towards a Carbon Neutral Green Society and Bright Future”.
After the ceremony, a signing ceremony was held for the agreement on joint research between the Research Center for Thermotolerant Microbial Resources at Yamaguchi University and Biodiversity Center at Kasetsart University.
This agreement is for the establishment of a database and joint research on thermostable microorganisms, and it is expected that joint research with Kasetsart University will become more active with the conclusion of this agreement.
YU will continue to promote international exchange of students and faculty members through joint degree program and joint research with Kasetsart University.
