Agreement between RIMD, Osaka Univ. and Yamaguchi Univ.
On April 9, 2024, the Research Institute for Microbial Diseases, Osaka University (RIMD), and the Yamaguchi University Organization for Research Initiative (YO) agreed to collaborate on Next-Generation Sequence (NGS) analysis. This agreement aims to promote collaboration and cooperation between the two institutions, sharing research projects, cutting-edge equipment, and novel analysis technologies to clarify the relationship between microorganisms and diseases in the region.
RIMD has been making a valuable contribution to understanding infectious diseases by discovering novel pathogenic microorganisms, elucidating their pathogenic mechanisms, and developing vaccines and diagnostic methods using cutting-edge NGS analysis technology.
YO has been responsible for genetic analysis at national universities in the Chugoku region as a center for NGS analysis in the Chugoku Region Bio-Network and has elucidated diseases specific to the area and the unidentified genome structure of organisms.
The two institutions hope to facilitate the exchange and utilization of knowledge and physical resources and collaborate to address human diseases of unknown origin, fish farming infectious diseases, avian influenza, severe febrile thrombocytopenia syndrome, and other infectious diseases unique to the Chugoku region. They also hope to solve problems through cutting-edge genome analysis technology.
